You don’t need to like everyone you work with, but you do need to respect them.
If you’ve built your team with care, everyone on your team has valuable skills that enable them to contribute to the team’s success. Your job as the team’s leader is to help each member of the team use their skills to help the team succeed. If you can do that, your respect for that person and that person’s respect for himself or herself will grow.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the eighteenth-century writer, statesman, and philosopher, advised his readers to treat everyone as if they’re the best person that they can become. That’s respect.
If you show respect to everyone you meet, almost everyone you meet will prove that they’re worthy of it.
